How ARG Refurbishes & Upgrades N64s
Every N64 bought from us will go through the following refurbishing process:
Each console is opened for inspection and cleaning! The motherboard is dusted off to clean years worth of accumulated dust. Any rust present is scrubbed and/or dipped in vinegar in order to clean it. Light rust is usually removed entirely. Deep, widespread dust is improved significantly, even if some of it is still visible.

After:

The shell is then washed with soap and water:
The console is then put back together and play tested before being shipped to you, ensuring you will be able to enjoy your Nintendo 64 right out of the box!
N64 Re-Cap Service
If you choose to purchase the re-cap service, we will replace all 18 capacitors on the motherboard.
This service requires careful soldering so as not to damage the console. One wrong move can seriously damage the board and render the console junk.
The original capacitors are 30 years old, which is nearing the end of their lifespan. Bad capacitors can keep consoles from working correctly. Some may not work at all
By opting for new caps, you are extending the life of your N64 by decades. This service is highly recommended so you can keep enjoying the N64’s amazing library for years to come.
RGB Mod Install Service:
We install an RGB mod board inside the N64 and connect it directly to the console's video circuitry and AV output. The result is sharper, cleaner-looking picture with better color separation, especially when the console is connected to an RGB-capable CRT or a device such as a RetroTINK or other video scaler.
Here is how the mod will look like on your N64:

If you have a setup that accepts RGB SCART, you can use a SNES-style RGB SCART cable with our RGB-modded N64s. I recommend using this SCART cable as it's the one I use at an affordable price.
New Shells:
If you want a console that isn't the same boring charcoal color everyone else has and don't want to pay a premium for the funtastic models, we can install a new third-party shell.
The new shells look roughly the same as OEM ones, just without the Nintendo logo. Bottom stickers will attempt to be salvaged and put on the new shell, but there is no guarantee it will survive the removal process.
Please note that these are 30 year old consoles, so they may come with varying degrees of scuffs and scratches. Any consoles with severe shell damage will only be sold with one of the new shells.
